Spartan Greeks from 6th century before the Christ to Peloponesian Wars. This army earned the reputation to be the best in the world during this time. Very disciplined, very able to manoeuver and "never demoralised", the spartans were also very polyvalent sportsmen and were trained from 7 years old up to 60 years old, when they served as trainer and reserve warriors. Solidarity and toughness were very important for spartan soldiers. the big problem of Sparta was that they had often to few warriors to be able to fight during long wars and to often civil wars with slave revolts in their peloponesian area. So they choosed to stay home as often as possible and rarely try to conquere other areas in Greece or elsewhere. A good thing for other peoples in mediterranean area.
